Product Description
Bulk outdoor Cat5e for CCTV and network backbone runs
305 metres of external-grade Cat5e UTP in a pull box, supplied by Connectix for permanent outdoor cabling — the standard reel spec for linking cameras, NVRs and switches between buildings or across a site.
Build and performance
- Features 4 pairs of 24AWG solid bare copper unshielded twisted pair, surpassing ANSI/TIA Enhanced Category 5e.
- Supports 10/100/1000Base-T Gigabit Ethernet on all four pairs, so it handles PoE IP cameras, HDBaseT extenders and VoIP alongside standard LAN traffic.
- Black LDPE/PE outer sheath, UV and moisture resistant, rated for catenary suspension, duct routing and façade fixing.
- CPR Fca Euroclass fire rating — this is an external non-riser cable, not for internal riser or plenum routes.
Why this matters on site
Choosing external-grade cable rather than standard internal Cat5e avoids sheath degradation on runs exposed to weather — a common cause of failed links discovered only after installation. The sequential metre marking on the sheath lets installers measure exact pull lengths as they go, which speeds up documentation for testing and sign-off.
Where it fits in a job
Typical use is linking remote PoE-powered CCTV cameras, outdoor wireless bridges or field injectors back to a central NVR or equipment room. Terminate with standard Cat5e RJ45 plugs, patch panels or keystone modules to complete a compliant channel — Connectix or equivalent connectivity hardware both apply.
