Product Description
A passive video balun lets you replace a coax run with Cat5e or Cat6 twisted pair cable on HD-over-coax CCTV systems. The BALUN-SCREW-White-8MP is built for trade installs where cable routing favours network cable over RG59 — new-build offices, retail fit-outs and residential blocks with structured cabling already in the walls.
What it does
It supports HD-TVI, AHD, CVI and CVBS video formats at resolutions up to 8MP (4K), so it works across most current HD camera outputs — as long as camera and DVR use the same format, since the balun doesn't convert between them.
Connections
- BNC male connector for direct connection to a camera or DVR input
- Screw terminal block for the twisted pair side, so installers wire it up without a crimping tool
- Passive design — no external power required
Deployment note
Baluns of this type are used in pairs: one at the camera, one at the DVR, with the video signal carried between them over Cat5e or Cat6 cable. Order enough units to cover both ends of every run on the job.
Selection checklist
- Confirm camera and DVR share a common video format before specifying
- Use Cat5e or Cat6 cable — other cable types aren't specified for this unit
- Plan for one balun per end, per camera run
