Product Description
Seagate Exos X16 ST14000NM001G — 14TB enterprise SATA HDD
The Exos X16 is a 14TB, 3.5" enterprise hard drive built for continuous operation in NVRs, RAID arrays and servers. That single fact — enterprise-grade 24/7 design — is what separates it from desktop drives when specifying storage for a surveillance project.
Where it fits a job
- Multi-channel NVR builds: 14TB per drive means fewer bays needed to hit a site's retention target, useful in comms cupboards with limited rack space.
- RAID arrays and servers: high workload rating supports continuous read/write across multiple drives in the same enclosure.
- Dense, rack-mounted systems: engineered for vibration tolerance and operational stability where several drives spin side by side.
Selection factors for installers
Interface is SATA 6Gb/s, spindle speed 7200 RPM — the combination that gives the sustained, stable throughput multi-channel recording depends on. Seagate Secure adds hardware-based data protection features, relevant where client data compliance is part of the spec.
