Planning notes for the install

Choose the outdoor camera position first. Night vision relies on infrared LEDs, and on IR cameras generally these draw more power in the dark. An undersized adapter or a long, poor-quality cable run can cause voltage drop, which shows up as flicker or a black picture at night. Check the adapter rating and cable quality against the run length before first fix.

The outdoor unit is weather-resistant, but a sheltered spot at the door surround still makes sense for a permanent exterior fitting.
