Each camera has a single network cable that carries both its picture and its power, which is why no separate power point is needed at the camera. As a rule, this is how new systems are installed.On a specification sheet: IP (PoE) system

Replacing an older system, with the cable already in place

Makes use of the round coax cable already in place from an older system, so new cable does not need to be run through the walls.On a specification sheet: Turbo HD (coax) system

How can I tell which I have?

The cable leading to an existing camera tells you. If it is thin and flat, with a clip much like a broadband cable's, you have a network system, so choose the first answer. If it is round, with a metal end that screws on, it is coax, so choose the second. Where no cameras are fitted yet, choose the first.If you are still unsure, choose either answer and continue. Before you buy, each part is checked for compatibility with every other, and you can return and change this later.
